Department of the Navy Safety and Occupational Health Professionals,The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) now recognizes the United States Army Combat Readiness Center’s (USACRC) Professional Certificate in Safety and Occupational Health (CP-12 Certificate) as meeting the credential eligibility requirement for the Certified Safety Professional (CSP).  A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), a copy of which is attached, was signed Monday, June 18, 2018, and established the CP-12 as an approved credential for the CSP.

The CP-12 Certificate is ANSI accredited to ISO 17011 and is awarded to military civilians and federal employees serving in safety and occupational health job roles, and who have completed course training or its equivalency.The CP-12 Certificate coursework covers 33 SH&E competencies and skills assessments and was determined to substantially match the ASP9 Blueprint.

Safety professionals who hold the CP-12 Certificate and who meet the CSP certification’s education and experience requirements may now apply for the CSP.  Likewise, a person who holds the CSP certification and who meets the eligibility criteria for the CP-12 Certificate will not have to complete CP-12 courses but must fulfill all other requirements for obtaining the CP-12 Certificate. As a reminder, certain certification fees can be waived for active and reserve service members, federal government civilian employees and veterans. The attached documents highlight the requirements to take advantage of the fee waiver programs. For more information about the CSP and other BCSP sponsored certifications, please visit: https://www.bcsp.org/ See downloadable attachments below.
